Gossiping on Interval Graphs

چکیده
We present an algorithm that produces a schedule of transmissions to achieve gossiping in a system where nodes are equipped with radio transceivers; diierent nodes have transceivers with diierent ranges. We assume that all the nodes are placed on a line and that all communication occurs in one dimension. Finally, unlike traditional system models for gossiping, we assume that all nodes within range can hear a transmission and that simultaneous transmissions may cause information loss via collisions. The gossiping algorithm we develop decomposes a system connguration into a spine tree and uses this structure to recursively produce a transmission schedule. We illustrate this process via an extensive example.

ENG) We investigate the gossiping problem, in which nodes of an intercommunication network share information initially given to each one of them according to a communication protocol by rounds. We consider two types of communication protocols: vertex-disjoint path mode, and edge-disjoint path mode. We give a general lower bound on the complexity of gossiping algorithms in terms of the isoperime...
متن کاملNote on Optimal Gossiping in Some Weak-Connected Graphs
The problems of gossiping and broadcasting in one-way communication mode are investigated. Optimal algorithms for gossip problem are known only for the complete graphs, paths, some simple trees, and cycles. In this paper some lower bounds on gossiping in graphs with bridges or with edge disjoint cycles are proved. A direct consequence of these lower bounds are optimal gossip algorithms for some...
متن کاملFast Gossiping by Short Messages
Gossiping is the process of information diiusion in which each node of a network holds a packet that must be communicated to all other nodes in the network. We consider the problem of gossiping in communication networks under the restriction that communicating nodes can exchange up to a xed number p of packets at each round. In the rst part of the paper we study the extremal case p = 1 and we e...

Broadcasting and gossiping are known to be NP hard problems This paper deals with approximation algorithms for such problems We consider both round complexity and step complexity in the telephone model After an overview of previously derived approximation algorithms we present new strategies for broadcasting and gossiping in any graphs Broadcasting strategies are based on the construction of ed...
متن کاملNew bounds on the minimum calls of failure-tolerant gossiping
Gossiping is an extensively investigated information dissemination process. In gossiping, every vertex holds a message which has to be transmitted to all other vertices. This paper deals with k-failure tolerant gossiping, which investigates the minimum number of transmissions (calls) required by the communication process, provided that at most k transmissions may fail. We show new bounds for th...
